Description

LTM 1650-8.1

Mobile crane

Children with famous parents often have a hard life – they are under great pressure from birth and are expected to be successful. The same can be said of the LTM 1650-8.1, which we unveiled at the Bauma 2019 event, the successor to the legendary LTM 1500-8.1, the best-selling large crane ever. Of course, this heavy duty crane has the same genetic concept as its predecessor – ultimate performance on eight axles. The result is that the 8-axle crane can complete hoisting work in the 700-tonne class or even higher with ease. It therefore has a nominal lifting capacity of 700 tonnes. In a lifting capacity comparison, the LTM 1650-8.1 exceeds its predecessor’s capacity by between 15 and 50 percent, depending on its equipment package.

VarioBase®
VarioBase makes the crane’s support system variable. It enables each outrigger to be extended to a different length. This enhances safety – particularly in constricted spaces. And what’s more, the crane’s lifting capacities are significantly increased, particularly over the outriggers and depending on the configuration.

Single-engine concept
Take one engine out to increase lifting capacity. Or more accurately – the superstructure is powered by the undercarriage engine. Gear shafts are routed from the distributor gear in the substructure via two mitre gears to the pump distributor gear in the superstructure. That enables us to remove one engine – and we use this to increase the crane’s lifting capacity

VarioBallast® (hydraulic)
The ballast radius can be infinitely varied using a simple hydraulic slewing mechanism. The radius can be reduced in constricted conditions or increased if a higher lifting capacity is required. This significantly increases the crane’s flexibility.

Automatic erection of the luffing jib
We can provide a support function for erecting the luffing jib on larger LICCON 2 cranes. Activating the automatic erection system in the LICCON crane control system ensures that the adjustment winch is automatically adjusted by the control system as the telescopic boom is luffed.

WindSpeed load charts

Increased flexibility and safety by using lifting capacity tables with different maximum wind speeds.

ECOdrive
ECOdrive makes the mobile crane significantly more comfortable and quieter by reducing the engine speed. Faster gearshifting delivers greater dynamic and traction offroad. On the road, the torque from the Liebherr diesel engine is used efficiently to minimise fuel consumption.

ECOmode
ECOmode minimises both fuel consumption and noise emissions when operating the crane superstructure. The crane operator sets the required working speed using the control lever. The LICCON 2 control system calculates the perfect engine speed for the diesel engine.
